Why I Designed W8V Dad Hats This Way | Style Meets Everyday Life

People ask me sometimes why I designed the W8V hats the way I did. Why dad hats specifically, why this fit, why this style. So let me break it down the way I actually think about it.
Why Dad Hats
I personally love dad hats because they're low profile. They're not trying too hard. And they're versatile enough to work with almost any outfit, casual or a little more dressed up. You can throw them on, throw them around, not stress too much about keeping them perfect because they're unstructured by design.
But here's the thing. Even though they're unstructured, the hats I make for W8V still hold their shape over time. That was important to me. I didn't want something that looked good for a week and then fell apart. They're also easy to clean, which matters when you're a dad and life gets messy.
The Feel Matters
The material is soft on your head, but not so soft that it feels cheap or flimsy. There's a difference. I wanted something where you can actually feel the quality the moment you put it on, something that tells you this is built to last, not just another hat that falls apart after a few wears.
Keeping the Design Minimal
For the designs themselves, I lean toward something minimal. A phrase, a word, something simple. I'm not trying to overload the hat with graphics. When someone wears one of these, I want it to say something real about them. That they're from the Bay Area. That they're celebrating being a dad. That's it. Simple, but it means something.
Where I Picture Someone Wearing It
When I picture someone wearing a W8V hat, I'm picturing real dad life. At the park with their kid. On a picnic. Taking the family to the beach. Just normal everyday moments, not some staged photoshoot.
Honestly, I wear mine in those exact situations. Taking my girls to the park. Getting them ice cream on a hot day. Sometimes just running to McDonald's because they want a Happy Meal, even though half the time they don't even eat the food, they just want the toy. You know how that goes.
These hats are for that. Everyday wear, while still looking like you put a little thought into it. You're expressing that you're a dad and that you're from the Bay, without trying too hard to prove it.
Built to Go With Everything
That's the other thing I love about a simple black hat with clean text on it. It goes with literally anything. Any outfit, any color, any occasion. You don't have to think about it too much, which honestly is the whole point. Dad life is busy enough. Your hat shouldn't be one more thing you have to overthink.
Low profile. Unstructured. Durable. Built for the days you're out with your kids, not stuck on a shelf looking nice. That's what W8V is to me. That's why I make them the way I do.
